7 Steps To Creating Great Content Marketing For Blogs!

The following is a guest post from Dena Rathbun. Dena is a dental social media consultant andcreate free infographic online blogger living in Dallas, TX.  She has spent the past 10 years promoting dental implant practices and cosmetic dentists online.

You’re a highly trained, skilled physician, not a graphic designer.  In a world where your online presence can make or break your practice, you’ve jumped feet first into the world of social media marketing.  You are blogging and really trying to create shareable content in a valiant effort to market your practice online.  What you really want is an informative, useful and eye-catching INFOGRAPHIC to easily communicate information to more patients.

You Don’t Have To Be A Graphic Designer To Create Cool INFOGRAPHICS

The internet is full of useful, free tools to help you create just about anything that you can imagine.  Here, we deconstruct a seemingly complicated INFOGRAPHIC in order to demonstrate just how easy it can be to create truly engaging and shareable content for blogs.  You can do it in seven easy steps.

Step One

Decide on a topic.  Keep it simple and focus on conveying a main point.  In this example, from Texas Wisdom, the main idea involves comparing a dental implant to a traditional bridge. Make notes outlining your key points to state your case.

Step Two

Find good, eye-catching pictures to use in your graphic.  Think about what you already have available to you.  In this case, photos of a dental implant model were used, as well as actual before and after photos.

Step Three

Use a free tool.  This graphic was created using a free template available from HubSpot There are other resources available at Infograhics Archive

Step Four

Create a killer headline for your INFOGRAPHIC.  Keep it short, create urgency, use keywords, make it unique and appealing to your readers.

Step Five

Organize your information and corresponding photos in an easy to follow visual.  Keep in mind that the eye naturally gravitates to objects on a page in a “Z” pattern.  Keep your most important information within the “Z” framework.  Don’t forget to brand your graphic with a small logo or web address. Don’t be afraid to get a little creative with the graphics.  You can change up the template any way you like.

Step Six

Promote your work! Use an embed tool, such as SEO Gadget to create embed code to help make your graphic easy to share.  Don’t stop at posting your graphic on your site, send it out via social media and upload it to INFOGRAPHIC sharing sites such as Love Infographics or visual.ly.   Write a post about your graphic and post it on Squidoo or other article sharing sites. Send it to your subscribers in a web blast or e-newsletter.  It couldn’t hurt to send it to your local dental society or professional association.  You never know, they might use it on their page, and catch the attention of countless other website owners yearning for great new content.  (Just be sure to include the embed code).

Step Seven

Track your progress. You can use your website analytics program to see how many people have viewed your post on your site. (What?  You aren’t tracking analytics?  Another great, free tool is Google Analytics, which provides the industry standard in web analytics data).  Track your embeds. Track your likes, comments, shares, retweets, repins and other social data on your social media pages.  Pinterest is the hidden gem of dental marketing.  Pin any content you create directly from your webpage to your page on Pinterest.  Any time your content is repinned, it carries with it the link back to your site.

What are you waiting for?  Go ahead and give it a try.  You can create great content for your blog to build reputation and links for your website with one good INFOGRAPHIC.  If you still decide it’s not for you, we’re always just a click away.
